Letter from Vicky

Is it really November?  Is it really time to think about shopping for the holidays?  Is it really time to say I’ll worry about those calories when I make my New Year's Resolution?  The answer:  Yes, can you believe it?

But the year’s not over and we still have much in store for you.  Mark your calendar for the Thanksgiving Luncheon on November 15th with Rupert from Survivor!!  I promise this will be a great event, sponsored again by our friends at Autotruck Federal Credit Union.
As always, we will have the best Holiday Open House in the World – that’s right – in the World!  Bring your holiday cheer to Holiday Inn on December 12th.  Thank you to Park Community Federal Credit Union for their sponsorship of this great event.

Now, the main message in this letter is THANK YOU!  As Thanksgiving approaches, it really is a great month to reflect on our great families, friends, jobs and GREAT MEMBERS of The Chamber Jeffersontown.  You are appreciated and we hope you have a great month.  Happy Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving Luncheon
November 15, 2007 11:30am-1:00pm

Sponsored by Autotruck Federal Credit UnionSpecial Guest & Keynote Speaker: Rupert BonehamRupert Boneham is perhaps "Survivor's" most beloved contestant. Though you'd never know it by his gruff exterior, beneath the shaggy beard and biker attire is a teddy bear of a man. Television viewers loved him so much they awarded him $1 million during a special edition of the show. Rupert took his winnings and bought a house, paid off some debts and, most notably, started "Rupert's Kids," a nonprofit organization dedicated to aiding troubled teens.

Remember to Have a Heart this holiday season!  We will be introducing and celebrating our annual Have a Heart program which helps to give needy families in Jeffersontown food, warm clothing, and toys during the holidays.  So don't forget to bring your loose change and dollars to the Luncheon!!  For more information on how you can help call Shelley at 267-1674 or click here.

How is your Chamber Influencing the Workforce of Tomorrow?

The Chamber Jeffersontown is proud of our education initiative in partnership with the Kentucky Council on Economic Education (KCEE).  Our goal is to influence tomorrow's workforce by teaching sound financial literacy in the Jeffersontown school system.

The Education Committee has been working on this initiative for years, and we are excited to announce our first official Wallet Wi$e event this month!

On November 27, 4:00-5:30p the Education Committee, along with KCEE and Chamber Staff, will introduce "Financial Fitness for Life" to children in the after-school program at Jeffersontown Elementary.  Through games, books, and activities, we will be teaching children how to save, spend, and invest their money.

For more information about the Education Committee or how you can get involved in the Wallet Wi$e program click here or contact Shelley at 267-1674.
